September 2019 POTM

Congratulations to September’s stand out achievers, Eloise Newberry and Ben Mcloughlin!!

Learn more about how Eloise feels about winning the award for the first time and why Ben feels he's just one of two players to be a two time award winner!

Eloise Newberry

How old are you and how long have you been playing tennis?

I am 11 and a half and started in tennis tots when I was 3 years old.

What do you love about tennis?

I love training and competing hard. I love serving and winning a point with a great shot.

How do you feel about being ‘Performance Player of the Month’?

I am really pleased as I feel I have worked really hard. Also it may mean that Lois (my sister) stops asking if I’ve won it!

Why do you think you won this month’s award?

I feel I have been working really hard all year but that I also carried this on during the summer tournaments and since squads started again this term.

What is your ultimate goal in the tennis?

To be a professional player and to win an all British slam final (no prizes for guessing the opponent!).

Ben Mcloughlin

How do you feel about being BTC’s Performance Player of the Month for the second time and setting an example for other BTC performance players?

I am thrilled and proud about being Performance Player of the Month for the second time.

What kind of attitude to you try to have ahead of each training session?

I always try to do my best at each training session while having fun. That’s important for me.

Why do you think you’ve won again?

I think I have won again because I always try hard and am fully committed to the session.

Have any of your goals changed since last time?

My goals are the same. I would like to win more tournaments in the future and continue improving my game.

About the award:

The award for Performance Player of the Month has been introduced by our coaching team, to recognise players who go above and beyond on the tennis court and in the gym! The award is not designed to commend tournament results alone. Instead, each month the team will assess all performance players based on a 5-point criteria which considers; work ethic, leadership, professionalism, goal setting and dedication. There will be two winners every month throughout 2019, one from the 9U age group and another from the 10+
