May 2019 POTM

Congratulations to May’s stand out achievers, Josh Ward and Chloe Cleaver!!

May’s award is a huge first achievement for Josh, and an impressive one for Chloe as she becomes a BTC Performance Players of the Month for the second time.

Learn more about them below.

Josh Ward

How old are you and how many years have you been playing tennis?

I am 15 years old and I’ve been playing pretty much since I was born. My first actual lesson with a coach was when I just turned 3 years old.

What do you love about tennis?

What I love about tennis is the atmosphere that you can get whilst playing and making a lot of friends. Obviously winning is good too.

How do you feel about being ‘Performance Player of the Month’?

I feel like winning player of the month is an achievement for me because I got it for behaviour and my attitude not too long ago was appalling, so this shows that if I put my mind to it then I can do it and people can see that.

Why do you think you won this month’s award?

I believe I have won player of the month because I work hard and never give up.

What is your ultimate goal in the tennis?

My ultimate goal is to enjoy my tennis and to be the best player I could possibly be. A big thanks to the BTC coaching team for helping me achieve this award.

Chloe Cleaver

How old are you?

11

What do you love about tennis?

Everything! The competitiveness, the activity and the friends you make along the way.

How do you feel about being BTC’s Performance Player of the Month for the second time and setting an example for other BTC performance players?

I’m really proud of myself because I didn’t think I would be able to get it again for a long time. I play with some great performance players and made some great friends and due to the high standard I know I always have to give 110%.

Why do you think you’ve won again?

Because of my hard work and dedication during my squads, private lessons and tournaments.

Have any of your goals changed since last time?

No, I just always aspire to give it my best and train hard, enjoy my tennis win or lose, thou I do much prefer winning!!! I did achieve my goal of getting picked for Kent which I am very proud of.

About the award:

The award for Performance Player of the Month has been introduced by our coaching team, to recognise players who go above and beyond on the tennis court and in the gym! The award is not designed to commend tournament results alone. Instead, each month the team will assess all performance players based on a 5-point criteria which considers; work ethic, leadership, professionalism, goal setting and dedication. There will be two winners every month throughout 2019, one from the 9U age group and another from the 10+
